Memorizing scriptures and hymns played a very important role in my childhood. I remember, for every chapter/hymn I memorized, my mom used to reward me with Rs. 5!
It’s been more than two decades since then, but those precious verses I learnt back then are still fresh in my memory. So I decided I’ll start getting KT into the practice of memorizing scriptures much earlier than I did.
KT’s lessons commenced last week – while changing her dress, giving her a bath and taking her for a walk. I chose Psalm 23 and came up with my own actions for each word. Most of the times she used to repeat. But there were times she never seemed to pay attention. I never gave up.
Today, to my surprise, she said the first part of the first verse on her own! It may be just five words, but it made me so proud and gave me all the motivation I needed to teach her the rest of the chapter!
